An informal parking area referred to as “Lafayette Park” in Adams County along State Highway 224 has been restored to a natural riparian habitat. Most of the site was an un-paved former parking area. The Adams County Parks and Open Space Department had been receiving feedback from residents that certain areas of the Clear Creek Trail seem unsafe and neglected, which included the Lafayette Park location. The Adams County Parks and Open Space Department contracted with the Clear Creek Watershed Foundation to develop a site restoration plan and secure environmental clearances and permits in the area. Western States Reclamation, Inc. performed the restoration work. This project is the beginning of a larger concept under development for restoration of the natural area along Clear Creek in Adams County, Colorado. The vision for this 7-mile corridor is to restore and create creek side access passages and parks that the local community may enjoy.
