Summary

Lion Creek is a tributary of North Empire Creek, which drains into the West Fork of Clear Creek. The Statement of Work (SOW) involved ongoing maintenance of a CERCLA non-time critical removal action which was completed in 1997 at the Minnesota Mine and Mill on the Arapahoe-Roosevelt National Forest. The primary SOW objectives included:

  1. Capping and revegetating mine tailings on steep slope above Lions Creek and on a hillside below a lower loop road,
  2. Recontouring and revegetating, and removing mine waste depositions along Lions Creek located directly below the Minnesota Mine and Mill Site.

This maintenance activity was aimed at reducing metals-leaden sediment loading to North Empire Creek.
