Minnesota Mine & Mill
Lion Creek is a tributary of North Empire Creek, which drains into the West Fork of Clear Creek. The Statement of Work (SOW) involved ongoing maintenance of a CERCLA non-time critical removal action which was completed in 1997 at the Minnesota Mine and Mill on the Arapahoe-Roosevelt National Forest. The primary SOW objectives included:
- Capping and revegetating mine tailings on steep slope above Lions Creek and on a hillside below a lower loop road,
- Recontouring and revegetating, and removing mine waste depositions along Lions Creek located directly below the Minnesota Mine and Mill Site.
This maintenance activity was aimed at reducing metals-leaden sediment loading to North Empire Creek.
